Forbes: “The Incredible Index Fund”
Forbes can’t seem to stop writing pro-indexing articles. Here’s how this one starts:
“There are many ways to invest your money, but for the long term, stock index funds are one of the best ways to go.
Index funds follow the market instead of trying to beat it and have lower expense ratios than traditional mutual funds. Whether you work on Wall Street, took a few investment classes in college or think a “bull market” is a cattle sale, you’ll find it hard to beat index funds as core investments in your portfolio.”

Kudos to Forbes for telling it like it is despite having significant numbers of advertisers that line up behind active management. Right in the middle of the article is a text ad for an investment newsletter called NoLoad Fund*X that purports to identify today’s ‘hot’ mutual funds. As students of index investing well know, past performance of mutual fund managers does not predict future performance.
